Unstoppable
You are innately unstoppable. It is you that decides you are, or not.
When I believed (and I still have friends remind me when it comes out) that my brain is incapable of something, I make myself incapable of it. My brain hears what I am saying. Vehicle: Life Coaching with Ellen There is a way to be less forgetful- and kind to yourself. Something I used to believe, and still it comes up every once in a while for me (It is seriously like 1/100th of the occurrences than they used to be) is….I’m so forgetful.
We make this mean that we will never be successful,
Because successful people never forget anything.
They don’t make mistakes.
They don’t let people down.
And we continue to find all the mistakes,
How we have let me people down,
And all the things we have forgotten. Building up the tally for the negativity spiral.
You can change your thought simply to- What can I do next time to support myself? This opens up a whole new world.
You aren’t going to look at your mistakes as something keeping you from ever achieving your dreams.
You will see your mistake as an obstacle that brings more clarity to your individual process.
The process that works for you- uniquely.
For your uniquely wired brain.
And I’m not just talking ADHD here…
This is for every single person.
This is the reason why there are so many different kinds of planners,
And diets,
We all work differently.
Have different preferences,
It’s important for us to fail, to forget.
For us to remember, to reflect and be able to learn what works well,
And simply what doesn’t.
When you think what can I do next time to support myself. I realize that the reason I dropped the ball, was I forgot to set a calendar event to do the thing, a follow up event for me to make sure it was completed, and moving that follow up event until it is completed (if it is something I have delegated) This is a process I have used a lot. It allows me to make sure I can get things done, without having to worry about it. With the thought - what can I do next time to support myself,
I also see that I had so many exciting ideas that I wanted to take action on. I see that I didn’t look ahead that week to see what was on my calendar.
Through this observation and reflection -
I see and learn clearly without fault what I can do better next time.
What happens when then? I find ways for me to support my self - and I learn ways so that I can remember 500 things without relying on my brain to remember them all. I also allow myself to be human.
Sometimes this also looks like reflecting and looking at how much work we expected ourselves to do.
Did we over schedule ourselves? Did we under schedule ourselves, and then found all the other shiny objects to fill in the space? Many times, I am reminded of the saying “if you want anythign done give it to a busy person” When we are trying to get a lot done, we need to be strategic about how we spend our time. For years I would work out at the 5:15 am crossfit class,
Luckily I only lived 6 minutes away from the gym-
I would wake up 15 minutes before class would start. Just long enough for me to roll out of bed, throw my workout clothes on, brush my teeth and jump in the car. This was because sleep was so important to me-
That I refined a system.
The night before, I had my meals packed and ready to go - in the cold winter months I would even put my food in my car…because it was like a giant refrigerator over night. I would check my calendar for everything I was going to need for work the next day, throw my gym bag packed with my work clothes and shoes, and everything I would need for the day into my car.
Set my gym clothes out on the bathroom counter.
Now I get ready for the gym, and work.
I have more time,
And I am running all over the house,
Back and forth forgetting one thing - and then going back for the other thing I still forgot. I once had a system that worked so cleanly-
But because I have more time, I don’t have any reason right now to be less sloppy. Both of these were with my ADHD brain. I am still choosing this day- to continue to run around the house.
But I can also chose, to question myself and figure out what system I can implement, to cause less stress, simplify, and make my process faster. You can do that for every single thing you do in your business. This is what needs to happen first to ever scale your business. or even just simply bring more simplicity and calm into your life.
Realization is one of the integral keys to being unstoppable Once you realize you are doing something the hard way,
Is when you spark the creativity to find a different way.
It’s easy to get held back by the thought that “I have created a smooth and easy way to do things through my habits, and then as soon as I stop for a while I forget how I did it all.”
You can use this realization, to your benefit.
Instead of using it as proof that you will never be unstoppable.
When we spark creativity-through realization,
We might be able to even create an even better system now than before.
Built for our unique situations right now.
We can use the frameworks we have built in the past,
Use the proof that we have been successful at building them in our past
To help us understand the power in it,
Remember our ability to stick to it.
And also remember how easy it was to forget it.
Not to any fault of our own.
When I realized that simply after going on vacation,
Because it was a practice that was so fine tuned,
And I had done so much it was completely auto pilot-
I would come back and it would be clunky again.
Instead of making this mean that I was not smart enough to remember.
That I was never going to have a process that worked.
I actually wrote it down.
I wrote down my process for how I want to get ready in the morning.
How to be accountable to myself- my goals - and get enough sleep…also one of my goals.
This did have me refine my goals.
Instead of having everything for the next day prepped and ready to go,
I then reflected in on what time I needed to go to bed,
After a few months of that old pattern,
I had learned so many more insightful things than I did when I began that pattern.
It was time for innovation -
For me to learn more about how to support myself in that moment.
I wouldn’t have even spent the time to write it down,
To figure it out again,
And to be reminded of other things that had popped up along the way that I now wanted to account for.
This was all gifted to me from simply forgetting.
Through forgetting- I became more unstoppable.
You don’t have time NOT to write down your process.
I can’t tell you how many times my brain used to think-
I don’t have time to do that. I have so many things to do.
That is a waste of my time.
I have heard this over and over,
Between my leadership team. and then again over and over from my clients.
When you single handedly hold onto the efficient process.
You are the only one that can do it.
And when you don’t do it for a while-
Your brain is likely to fill that place with other things that you have been doing….aka forgetting the process. it’s a normal human brain thing..
But there’s a hack.
It’s writing it down.
I have multiple templates that I use.
I also have templates that I have created to help me anytime I need to delegate a task. I have processes written out for every single thing that I do in my business.
I am now building them for everything I do in my life- that I really want to remember.
In business especially though-
When I write down what I do.
Take a video of me doing it
Post it all in one place.
Teach them how to find the content.
I now have a place that my employees can go to that one place,
And now they have my brain on command.
They don’t need me to be available to answer my phone.
They don’t need me to have the answers for them.
They have the ability to find their answers just as fast as googling them.
The other cool thing about this- is just like my gym example,
Is as we go- because we have the process documented…
We have more clarity on adjustments that would better serve our community.
we are able to serve our clients better
We create less frustration for the team
And they feel independent.
You no longer need to feel like you have to babysit them.
It creates a whole beautiful dynamic amongst the team.
You know what it also has helped me with?
identify key team players.
we will for sure talk about that in another podcast
I am curious- what feels frantic to you? where do you feel like you waste a lot of time?
When we can hone in - question these areas.
We can create processes that make the creation more fun for everyone.
When things are more fun for everyone, we continue to think good thoughts about it.
We continue to want to do those things, because we think positively about it.
We continue to create traction, create more ideas.
We grow. And find others with growth mindsets.
This my friends, is the beginning of finding your unstoppable mindset.
Your unstoppable business.
Your unstoppable body.
